May Secret Subject Swap Take 2

Welcome to Take Two of May’s Secret Subject Swap. This week, 11 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.

Here are links to all the sites now featuring Secret Subject Swap posts.  Sit back, grab a cup, and check them all out. My subject is “You have created your own tv network. What shows and commercials will be aired on your network?  What shows/commercials will be banned?  It was submitted by .  Here goes:

So, this was so exciting to me and then I got scared…Would I be able to pull this off and make it interesting to read? Would I be able to write this without sounding like a crazy woman? Would I be able to write this without going on a anti-society rant?

Well, I hope I did a good job. I couldn’t think of a network name, so I leave that up to my readers. What name do you think would be fitting for this lineup of shows?

Caillou, or other kid shows that feature spoiled and whiny kids with parents who are idiots and let hem get away with EVERYTHING. I was going to add a video, but I didn’t want anyone to suffer.

Reality or TV shows featuring ONLY woman who emphasize that being rich, thin, and sexy is the best.

Reality or TV Shows that portray beauty coming from designer labels, lots of makeup, barely-there clothes, and starving themselves.

Reality or TV shows that portray people acting dumb but pretty/handsome is popular and cool.

I didn’t find this funny at all…I found it rather weird and sad.

featuring mothers and fathers who have a positive body image and show their sons and daughters how to do the same. Kids look to their parents for acceptance, if a mother or father hates the way they look, kids will learn that and then look to a partner to make them feel better about themselves. I know I refuse to be negative about my body and when I put on eye makeup, I simply say I am making my eyes stand out even more. I don’t wear cover up, I don’t have anything I don’t like about my face. I am happy with who I am and I want my son to look for that in his future partner.

featuring mothers of all faiths who are passing their beliefs down to their children

featuring families of all races, sizes, beliefs who are just like you

featuring kids who act out, have special needs, get in trouble, get into fights, make bad decisions. Their parents aren’t perfect and they fight with the kids. The episode doesn’t always end happy, but they are a family and love each other.

featuring families teaching their kids to be responsible for their actions and think about others.

featuring families that instead of teaching our daughters “don’t get raped” teaching our  sons “don’t rape”.

featuring families that show their kids how to respect themselves and stand up for what is right and not to get pressured into doing what is wrong. Being who you are is tough, but in the end the joy and power form it is intoxicating.

featuring women and men of all shapes and sizes using products that moms and dads actually use and love…and really work.

featuring brands of clothes that appeal to EVERYONE and not discriminate against a certain size or race.

that DON’T use sex to sell a product…more often than not sex has NOTHING to do with the product.

What shows or commercials would you cut? Which ones would you add or create?

  1. I agree on all counts. I love that commercial with the little boy dressed as Darth Vader. I don’t watch a ton of TV anymore but I did watch American Idol for some reason this season. Loved the 2 young ladies that ended up in the finals. Definitely good for the public to see these types of people being represented.

    • OH MAN…that’s right I forgot about Criminal Minds and Law and ORder SVU and CSI…which I love..I want to see those bastards caught…but maybe late night so kids can’t see it, LOL

  2. We need to get your network on the air. It would be a giant step in making the world a better place. Oh, and that’s what I’d name your network: Better Place.

You put a lot of thought into this post, so to answer your question: Hell, yeah, you can pull this off.

  3. I love what you did with the prompt! Your ideas of what should and shouldn’t be on tv are so spot-on, I agree whole heartedly. Even if I didn’t tho, you did a great job of presenting your thoughts and ideas, awesome post!

  4. I love this so hard. I agree on all counts and I would name your station Everyday Super Heroes (ESH)

I would add one show. We need a reality tv of real moms and dads who are divorced or single and how they cope with family life.

    • Yes, reality TV of single or divorced dads and moms. you are right.

I like that name!!!! Everyday Super Heroes…another name for mom and dads

  5. I would definitely make sure my cable company carried THIS channel! Well done! I don’t know how I would have even approached this topic. I really like the path you took! Personally, I can’t stand “reality t.v.” because it just depresses me. If what they show is in fact “reality” I am even more terrified about the future of our world!! Great job!
    The Pursuit of Normal;)

  6. Wow it looks like you need to now start your own television station. I’d be watching it every day for sure. And I’m definitely with you on the kids shows with spoilt main characters. Olivia is one of my most hated shows, she’s so indulged all the time.

  7. I agree with all of this!!! Especially about all the sex on TV – it’s ridiculous! I would also like to ban all those creepy, violent crime shows. Mu hubs was watching Criminal Minds the other night and I made him change the channel because it was just disturbing!

  8. I cheered out loud at no Calliou. GAH…he is the WORST!! It’s been years since I’ve been subjected to him, but he is such a sore subject for me just the mention of his name sends me straight into a rage. HE’S SO WHINY and AWFUL!! I love *all* of your “no mores”. I love all of the things you WOULD put on tv too!! Fantastic post!! –Lisa

    • thanks babe…I am glad we have ROKU and only get netflix and amazon. we cut out damaging commercials and ridiculous shows.

    • now that we have ROKU, we don’t have to watch commercials as much. I like knowing that I have more control over what Dino can watch.

  9. I love this post!! I’d watch you’re network for sure. Sharefest always brings me to new neat blogs. 🙂

    • thanks babe! Yes, Sharefest is great for introducing new bloggers. I don’t see the link for your blog babe, I’d like to visit.

  10. Based on what you wouldn’t and would have on your own television network, I’d be an avid watcher! I always say we need common sense people running things!
