He Just Wanted to Help

Today is Kid Lit Blog Hop #5

We love going to the library and borrowing books and joining in on story time. Dinosaur was so excited to pick out Thanksgiving books. The library is great, because we read the books till we get tired of them and return them and buy more. If there is a book he really LOVES we can put it on his birthday or Christmas list. The reality is there are so many books to be borrowed and read, you’ll never get bored.

Dinosaur is enjoying the book, Dinosaur got VERY UPSET when we read it, because the boy just wanted to help his family. Everyone kept telling him to go help someone else and didn’t see how sad he was. Finally his grandfather asked for his help and he finally was happy to be a part of the family. Dinosaur got mad when he was alone on the swing and kept asking why he couldn’t help. Don’t worry it had a good ending, but was well written and illustrated, Dinosaur could feel the boy’s emotions. He cheered when he walked in with a basket full of chestnuts.

Dinosaur said:

“They not nice. They won’t let him help, that not nice. He’s so sad and no a baby. He’s a big boy and want to help.”

“Oh, Grandpa, that is so nice. He let the boy help. Now his family is happy. See, Mommy.”

There’s Just One Mommy posted about a shaving cream activity she did with her kids. I have done this activity in the past, but I wanted to share our bath time shaving cream fun.. I put shaving cream in my cupcake tin and added washable paint. I find that it washes off easier and cleans up faster. Dinosaur loved watching the cream turn colors.

He was so happy that he got to play in the bathtub with the shaving cream. Sure the water turned a weird brown color, but the mess was contained and he really got a good work out mixing and spreading the paint. The best part for him was washing it all off with a wash cloth…AND I GOT MY BATHTUB CLEANED!

  3. What a lovely book. We don’t celebrate thanksgiving in Australia but we know all about it obviously, so thank you for such a beautiful rendition from your little dinosaur. Shaving cream fun looks like a must in the future with my little G 16 months old. See you in the bloggosphere, cheers Julie

  4. Haha Karen, Max loves cleaning the bathtub too! I’m not sure where he gets that from, but it’s certainly not from me! Thanks for linking in to the Kid Lit Blog Hop again πŸ™‚

  5. I laughed about your bathtub getting cleaned. I have one son who had a teacher who used to have the kids clean their desk w/shaving cream at the end of the year (and another who had them use toothpaste!).

Thanks for sharing, I’m visiting today from the Kid Lit Blog Hop.
