Hearty Pea Soup

Another Tuesday and another cheap and easy meal. This time I was so afraid that Dinosaur would not eat this and want a peanut butter and jelly sandwich…but he LOVED it. He ate every spoonful. It was a hearty dinner for a cold night. this is why LOVE soups, you can add anything to the soup, stretch out the meal, and save money.


1 chicken thigh $1.05
1 can of pea soup $1.00
4 slices of bacon .40c
1/2 cup frozen sliced carrots .40c
3 small potatoes .50c

1. either cook chicken thigh or defrost chicken and shred
2. cut, season, and cook potatoes in skillet
3. cut bacon into thin strips and cook with potatoes
4. Once they are cooked, put canned pea soup and heat up
5. Add chicken, carrots, potatoes, and bacon to pea soup and stir occasionally

5 servings, COST PER SERVING $0.67
